Excellent – I read within 24 hours of purchasing. The style of literary encyclopedia lends itself well to Bolaño's writing. In the way his stories are a procession of ancedotes with a meandering rhythm, circling around some untellible truth, like superheated gas around a blackhole.

Basically a series of "An Examination of the Work of Herbert Quain
" (Borges, Ficciones), short biographies on authours whos poetry, prose litrature, science fiction, journalism, and in one case skywriting and snuff films, are somethimg you could imagine Bolaño writing himself. So much so that at several points are the characters are penning works that Bolaño later authoured. The innovation on this formula is that each character is some form of far right reactionary, an early 20th century fascist, a nazi or descendant of an escaped nazi, a later century neo-nazi, a corpratist, some form of aesthetic extremist, a run-of-the-mill american ultra, or as most of the stories are set in latin america, some form of catholic theocrat. In the same way that the procession of murders, post-communist/late-capitalist observations, and ancedotes from WWii allow Bolaño to demonstrate a terrifying truth in 2666, Nazi Literature in the Americas, in its focus on how reactionaries react to the future, manages to divine aspects of our present. Henceforth, inspite of being penned last millenia some of the fictional authours seem like characters from our current one, such as: -a dark skinned Guatemalan who seems over the course of his profile to want to transition into a tall blonde Nazi woman, and whom blames his inabillity to be this on the Jews. -An American authour who seems to be a critique of HOI4 New Order devs in his miticulous abillity to world-build and comete inabillity to write human characters. -A lesbian substance abusing fascist whos prized pocession is a photo of her as a baby with Hitler. ...and many more. I recomend you read this dear reader, it is high quality superheated gas. It was worth my time, and I am sure it will be worth yours.
