the author didn't live up to my expectations TWICE.
knowing very little about the book i got to reading. i was thrilled by the idea of all that "satan friend" thing. at the beginning it was weird to read about filthy-minded corrupted women of that time (knowing that the book was written by a woman!!) but i trusted the process thinking it was merely ironic and i'll see the disproof to that idea soon. little did i know about what was going to come up. the whole plot revolved around the single idea of how depraved the 19th-century society was (and especially WOMEN). furthermore, the main character's dumbness bored me to death so that i endeavoured so hard not to quit reading. the only thing keeping me reading was the ending because i was waiting for the judgement day. it was okay, at least it was something contrasting with the underwhelming rest of the plot.
