against all expectations I actually really enjoyed this one... well-done exploration of how the state creates and uses delinquency/the carceral system to further its goals in the modern day. also puts to rest any sort of fantasies about prison reform, which was more radical than I thought this lib would be. good use of marx, too, though the conclusions about class war are rather well-trodden.
