Márai Sándor, eredeti nevén Márai Grosschmid Sándor Károly Henrik (Kassa, 1900. április 11. – San Diego, Kalifornia, 1989. február 21.) magyar író, költő, újságíró, rövid ideig a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia rendes tagja. Írói stílusát gyakran hasonlítják Thomas Mann, Robert Musil, Joseph Roth és Arthur Schnitzler stílusához. Márai Sándort a 20. századi európai irodalom egyik legkiemelkedőbb alakjának tartják, külföldön és hazájában egyaránt.
