Frederico Carlos Hoehne, well-known as F.C. Hoehne, Brazilian naturalist, wrote a lot of Botanic articles, some of them became books such as "Iconografia de Orchidaceas no Brasil" (1949). From 1910 - 1930, as director of Botanic Garden in São Paulo city, in 1928 coordinated the building of two orchid nurseries in that place, localized in Agua Funda district, which still there as a base of studies for protected species. In addition to encyclopedia "Flora Brasiliensis" (1840 - 1906), by Von Martius, wrote "Flora Brasilica" (1940 - 1955), describing plants not found in Martius studies. Some Brazilian orchids was dicovered, described and registered by Hoehne, one of them is Plectrophora calcarhamata Hoehne (1910).
