I keep telling people I was raised by wolves in the middle of nowhere, but that excuse will only get me so far for so long. I've noticed a sort of chaotic insecurity coupled with equal measure of charm to be how I've survived thus far. I'm ready to shed that and I have been observing others, like a small child, looking for cues on how to behave.
I should get an instagram? Set up meetings with professors? Okay, but how do I dress? Do I share my opinion? I have a penchant for putting my foot in my mouth but I pride myself on being able to take it out and apologize. I'd like to shed that habit as well.
I got the instagram, it's funny, I really only used it to look up people that are so removed from my life I wouldn't have the guts to follow them. I met with one professor. He scared the shit out of me. There are going to be a myriad of limitations on me as an artist and I won't have any free time.
I need free time. I need time with my boyfriend (partner?). God, why can't he just propose so I can call him my husband? Speaking of terms, "cohort"? Fuck that. "Pedagogy" can go eat it's own ass. Every time I see someone use those words I think of the South Park Prius drivers who love the smell of their own farts.
I have a Prius, I hope you know.
I also need time to hike. I've been told I have "raccoon energy" otherwise.
I need time to work. Oh man have I met the most privileged kids at these films schools. If I were their parents I too would pay for their $300K educations, pay for their cars, vacations, trips to see their boyfriends, and $8K apartments. You wouldn't? My dad said he would pay for my car insurance while I'm in school, I'll take it!
After zooming with the other students, I'm at once intimidated and bored and I just want to be liked. It's probably best I just sit back and focus on the work at hand.
Wish me luck.
